後期高齢者の高額医療費について

７５歳以上の入院治療費ですが
一般的年金受給者ですと一月の上限が４万～５万円程で、
手続きの必要も無いと聞きましたが本当でしょうか？
預貯金の無い親が入院を３週間しており、金銭的に不安です。
よろしくお願いします。
